Let’s Go to the Beach-each

Nicki Minaj says:

Let’s go to the beach-each, let’s go get away
They say, what they gonna say
Have a drink, clink, found the Bud Light
Bad bitches like me is hard to come by

Andrew and I have been singing this a lot. Andrew and I are also confused about where she found the Bud Light. Maybe it washed up on shore.

I would like to think I’m a beach connoisseur. I love swimming, the sound of the waves, reading on the beach, and walking along the sand. In Thailand, I’ve realized, I’ve mostly been to Greek beaches. Perhaps this history has led to a strong preference and a certain snobbery. I subconsciously compare the beaches in Thailand to Greek beaches, and I find them lacking. Why? They are stunning, with warm clear water and soft sand. Perhaps it’s the lack of freddo espresso (Greek iced shaken espresso). Maybe the water is a little too warm? Maybe a little too crowded? I think a combination of all, plus the lack of Greek voices in the background. Greece was such a formative part of my early adulthood - I think I now, unfairly, compare all beaches with my joy, wonder, and now nostalgia for those years during Covid with the beach to myself.

The beaches in Thailand are beautiful, and fun to swim in. I’m trying to create new memories and associations with non-Greek beaches. Perhaps I’m just homesick for my second home.
